Writers imagine words into being but editors hammer them into a living, workable shape. Not only will I help shape your writing project, but I'll share my advice to help you get on track to publication, whether you'll be doing it yourself or submitting your work to agents and publishers.Įditorial work goes beyond being a writer. I've learnt from the best, and I'll bring that knowledge to my editorial work. Through WriteMentor, I've rubbed shoulders with agents, editors, publishers and authors. With WriteMentor, I'm a reader for their annual Children's Novel Award a host of #WMChat, where I interview agents and authors on Twitter and Chief Editor of its quarterly magazine. I work for WriteMentor, a service that supports writers in developing their craft and expanding their industry knowledge. I've run my own programme of writing workshops in association with organisations such as Seven Stories, the UK's National Centre for Children's Books. I've networked with fellow writers and agents at Winchester Writers' Festival and New Writing North events. I've done work experience at Penguin Random House. I'm lucky to have more joy than pain: a poem published by Popshot Magazine and a short story published by Eternal Remedy another short story shortlisted for the Bridport Prize a scholarship to the Winchester Writers' Festival where I pitched my novel to literary agents a place on a summer mentoring programme where my YA novel was shaped by the deft hands of a published novelist and an editorial read-through from the Chairman of Curtis Brown literary agency, Jonny Geller.įar from sitting on the fringes, I've sought to bust the myth of the isolated writer by plunging headfirst into the writing and publishing industry. ![]() With three novels under my belt - a Middle Grade Fantasy, a Young Adult Fantasy, and an Adult Historical - I know what it's like to birth a book baby.
